Trisha Shepherd

Trisha Shepherd joined the 6News team from WHO-TV in Des Moines, Iowa where she anchored the morning news.

Before moving to Iowa, she spent eight years as an anchor/reporter for WCIA-TV in Champaign, Illinois. Originally from the Chicago area, Shepherd started her career at WBAY-TV in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications, Media and Theater from St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin.

Shepherd also brings award-winning experience to 6 News. She won an Associated Press Investigative Report award for a piece exposing alleged problems with the foster care system in Illinois.

She also has two Illinois Broadcasters Association Silver Dome Awards for her ongoing coverage of the Class of 2000; reports that followed a group of teenagers from their freshman to senior year in high school.

Shepherd enjoys biking, hiking, swimming and camping. She also has a long background in choir and theater and is fluent in Spanish.

Shepherd also loves kids and is passionate about helping children. She recently hosted a major fundraising event for the Jackson Center, which provides therapy for children with cerebral palsy and appeared as "Snow White" in a children's theatre production at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre. She is also a member of the Pacers' "Read to Achieve" All-Star Reading Team.

She says the hobby that consumes most of her time is entertaining her own kids. Clara is 3 and Calvin is 6. Shepherd is married to drummer Ian Shepherd, who is active in the city's live music and marching percussion scene.
