Notre Dame, USC football to renew rivalry starting in 2030

NOTRE DAME, Ind. (WRTV) — Notre Dame football announced on Monday that the rivalry with USC is returning in 2030 with a four-game home-and-home series.

The first matchup will be in Los Angeles on August 31, 2030, with Notre Dame hosting USC on August 30, 2031. The games in 2032 and 2033 will be played in the first three weeks of the season.

Notre Dame and USC have played 96 times, with the Fighting Irish leading the series 53-38-5. Navy (98 games) is the only team Notre Dame has played more in program history.

The Irish are 3-1 against USC under Marcus Freeman.

The Jeweled Shillelagh is the rivalry trophy for the matchup, with the tradition beginning in 1952.
