IMPD reports a fatal shooting in northeast Indianapolis subdivision
A person died after a shooting Thursday night in a housing subdivision in northeast Indianapolis, police say.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was called just before 9:25 p.m. Thursday to the 4600 block of Hovenweep Way. That’s in the Loudon Place subdivision, off 46th Street east of North German Church Road.
Sometime later, police received a report of a person shot at a gas station and convenience store at the intersection of East 42nd Street and North Franklin Road. That person, who drove a car from Hovenweep Way, was taken to a hospital and died there, IMPD Capt. Robert Ray said.
Investigators believe the person shot knew the person who fired the weapon.
It was not immediately known what may have led to the shooting or any information about the person shot.
It is the second fatal shooting in Indianapolis Thursday night. The other was in the first block of Hendricks Place, just east of downtown.
