Princeton woman facing DUI, neglect charges after driving with child in car

OWENSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — Gibson County deputies announced Monday that a Princeton couple was arrested on drug and neglect charges after police found a woman driving under the influence with a child in her car on Friday, Aug. 21st.

According to the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Eric Powell stopped a white 2014 Nissan Maxima on Third Street in Owensville around 8:19 p.m. after seeing an equipment violation on State Road 65.

When Powell approached the car, he smelled burnt marijuana. While speaking with the driver, 41-year-old Jessica White, Powell noted signs that she was impaired. Following a DUI investigation, deputies arrested White and took her to the Gibson County Detention Center.

Jessica was allowed to call her husband, 38-year-old Cameron White, to pick up a child who was in the car.

When Cameron arrived, deputies smelled burnt marijuana coming from his vehicle. After a second investigation, a different deputy drove Cameron home and informed him that he would face charges for methamphetamines, syringes, and paraphernalia found during the encounter.

Deputies also notified the Department of Child Services because of the drug use by both parents.

Later that evening, DCS requested that law enforcement accompany them to Cameron’s home. During that visit, police saw drug paraphernalia in plain view and called for backup. Deputies then arrested Cameron and took him to the Gibson County Detention Center.

Charges Filed

Jessica White faces charges of:

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
  • Possession of marijuana.
  • Possession of methamphetamines with a prior conviction.
  • Possession of paraphernalia with a prior conviction.
  • Neglect of a dependent.

According to online court documents, Jessica was bonded out of jail for $1,250 cash on Monday. She has an initial hearing scheduled for Wednesday morning.

Cameron White faces charges of:

  • Manufacturing a controlled substance.
  • Possession of marijuana.
  • Possession of methamphetamines.
  • Dealing and possession of cocaine.
  • Possession of paraphernalia.
  • Neglect of a dependent.
  • Possession of a hypodermic syringe.
  • Possession of a legend drug.
  • Dealing in a controlled substance.
  • Possession of psilocybin.

Online court documents show Cameron had his initial hearing on Tuesday. Another hearing is scheduled for Oct. 15.
