INDIANAPOLIS (WRTV) — Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce practiced for the first time this season on Thursday.

Pierce missed all of training camp as he recovered from offseason ankle and heel surgery.

Pierce said that “Week 1 is the goal” as he continues to ramp up. He also said “we’re where we want to be” in his schedule for his recovery.

“First time being back out here, wearing the helmet, playing with the other NFL players, you got to knock a little bit of rust off,” Pierce said. “Been working in PT (physical therapy), been working kind of off and on with the trainers, they’ve been doing a good job of preparing me, getting me ready. Just a little different once you back out here, get timing from Daniel (Jones) and these other NFL arms.”

The Colts will host the Baltimore Ravens in the season opener on September 13.

Pierce signed a four-year, $114 million deal to return to the Colts in free agency this offseason. He had 47 catches for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns last season.
