Colts WR Alec Pierce ‘should be good’ for opener vs. Ravens

INDIANAPOLIS (WRTV) — Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce will see the field on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

Colts head coach Shane Steichen told News 8 Sports’ Andrew Chernoff that Pierce “should be good” to go for the opener.

“We’ll get him some reps in practice this week, just like he took reps last week,” Steichen said. “And he’s feeling really good.”

Pierce did not participate in training camp nor in any preseason game as he recovered from ankle surgery that he had in March.

He practiced for the first time about a week-and-a-half ago on Thursday, August 27.

On Thursday, Colts quarterback Daniel Jones was asked about re-building that chemistry with Pierce since Pierce has missed time this preseason.

“I think just trying to do your work on the side and throw routes,” Jones said. “Go back through all that stuff and get the timing back going, but I feel good about it. Feel good about where he is. And obviously, had a lot of time together last year and built a lot of reps over that period of time. So, I feel good about where we are and I know he’s working hard to continue to get all the way back.”

Pierce is coming off the best season of his career. He finished with 1,003 yards. He also hauled in six touchdowns.

The Colts and Ravens kick off at 1 p.m. EDT inside Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday.
