ANTHONY CALHOUN

Anthony “A.C.” Calhoun is the sports director for WRTV and WISH-TV and an Emmy Award-winning journalist who has covered sports in Central Indiana for nearly three decades. An Evansville native, A.C. joined WISH-TV in 1998.

A.C. leads the stations’ coverage of sports across Indiana and hosts several sports programs, including SportsLocker and the Emmy Award-winning Countdown to Kickoff Colts pregame show. His work extends beyond the anchor desk. A.C. has served as a play-by-play announcer for NCAA basketball on ESPN and as the television voice of Butler basketball on MyINDY-TV 23.

Before joining WISH-TV, A.C. began his professional television career as a weekend sports anchor and reporter at WTVH-TV in Syracuse, New York.

A.C. is a graduate of Syracuse University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism. While at Syracuse, he was named a Remembrance Scholar, the university’s highest honor. He has also been recognized as one of the most influential people in Indianapolis and was named Central Indiana’s “Favorite Sportscaster” by Indianapolis Woman magazine and NUVO.

His commitment to Indiana sports has earned additional recognition throughout his career. A.C. received the Indiana High School Athletic Association’s Distinguished Media Service Award for his positive contributions and dedicated service to high school sports programs in Indiana for 25 years.

The Indiana Sports Corp also honored A.C. with its prestigious Pathfinder Award in recognition of his longtime commitment to serving others. Previous recipients of the award include Peyton Manning, Condoleezza Rice, Jim Nantz, Jeff Gordon, Oscar Robertson, Dick Vitale, Larry Bird and Tony Dungy.

Away from the anchor desk, A.C. is deeply involved in the Central Indiana community, serving as an emcee for charitable organizations and raising money to support children in need. The AC Golf Classic has raised more than $4 million to promote excellence in education for inner-city youth, bringing together local athletes, celebrities, business leaders and community leaders each year.
