There’s something so heartwarming about a brightly lit Christmas tree. It’s one of the things that makes the holiday season so joyful and magical.

But there’s no rule that says you can’t enjoy a decorated tree outside of December. If you’re looking for a way to brighten up your home this spring, why not put up an Easter tree?

An Easter tree is just like a Christmas tree, but instead of Santa Claus, snowmen and nativity-themed ornaments, the tree is decorated in pastels and with Easter bunnies, Easter eggs and other trinkets that evoke the springtime holiday.

Check out some of the examples posted on Instagram.

It’s a somewhat stressful time at the moment, so I chose to inject a bit of joy! Our mental health is even more important in times like this. So I am making my own happy, and will continue find ways to create moments of joy with my family. We’ll be playing games, doing crafts, watching films, but all without pressure and expectation. Just being in the moment, and feeling grateful to have my boys safe with me. And well, if we’re going to be living in a bubble for a bit, I might as well make it Easter themed 🤷🏽‍♀️ 🐰 🐣 . . #homespunheath #handmadehome #supportsmall #smalbizclub #eastertree #easter #thoughtfulthursday #thankfulthursday #family #makeyourownhappy

Although the trend of Easter trees might just be catching on in the United States, it turns out they’ve been popular for years in Germany.

Tami Kelly, a representative for Treetopia, told Romper that the tradition of decorating bare tree branches with painted eggs is known as Ostereierbaum, and that it’s intended to usher in the spring. The company shared an example on their own Instagram feed, showing how a pink tree makes for a perfect Easter tree:

You can also make or buy a tree made of Easter eggs, like this one shown by @.old.orchard.made.new:

What a cool idea! Will you put up an Easter tree this year?
