SEATTLE — A Seattle jury Thursday awarded $123 million to the victims and families of a 2015 duck boat accident there.
Five people died and 60-others were injured in the crash.
The Seattle case was watched closely by the lawyers and the relatives of the 17-people who died in a duck boat accident last summer in Missouri.
Nine of the victims were members of the Coleman family of Indianapolis.
Multi-million dollar lawsuits are pending in the Missouri case and the captain of the boat, Kenneth McGee, faces 17-federal charges, including misconduct and negligence.
The duck boat capsized when a fast-moving thunderstorm swept across Table Rock Lake in Missouri.
In the Seattle case, a duck boat on a bridge crashed into a charter bus carrying international students.
Five people on the bus died.
Duck boats were first used during World War 2 and can be operated on land and in the water.
