22-year-old arrested in connection with fatal north side shooting

Indianapolis police say a person died after being shot in a north side neighborhood late Sunday morning.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Shawnee Drive, near Grandview Drive and West 71st Street, around 11:13 a.m. to investigate a person shot, police said.

Police arrived to find an adult male victim with a gunshot wound, who was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Roderick O. Green II, 21.

IMPD announced early Monday morning that 22-year-old Antonio McLendon Jr. was taken into custody on a preliminary charge of murder for this shooting.

The department also said they believe the shooting was an isolated incident and McLendon and the victim knew each other.
