Abducted baby safely returned to her family in West Lafayette

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A six-month-old baby from West Lafayette has been safely returned to her family on Thursday after she was abducted and taken out of the state.

In a release from the West Lafayette Police Department, they received a call Thursday about a suspected abduction. After investigation, officers found out that the person who abducted the baby was 22-year-old Jasmine O’Sullivan, from Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Investigators believe that O’Sullivan posed as someone else in order to gain the trust of the baby’s mother in the days leading up to the abduction. Officers do not think that the person O’Sullivan pretended to be had any involvement with the crime.

Officers learned that O’Sullivan was heading south after abducting the baby, ending up in Louisville, Kentucky. Officers coordinated with the Louisville Metro Police Department and found the baby five hours after she was first reported missing.

O’Sullivan was arrested and is initially being charged federally with kidnapping.
