Wife says Tony Dow in hospice care following reports of his death

In this Thursday, Sept. 18, 2012 photo, Tony Dow, actor, director and artist, poses at his home and studio in the Topanga area of Los Angeles.

Tony Dow, who played Wally on the sitcom “Leave it to Beaver,” is reportedly in hospice care.

Dow’s wife told the CBS and ABC affiliates in Los Angeles that Dow has not passed away despite a statement from his management team.

The team posted a statement on the actor’s Facebook page Tuesday, saying the actor died. The statement has since been deleted.

Dow was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. However, the type of cancer he is battling has not been disclosed.

In an update last week, Dow’s team described his situation as a roller coaster of “ups and downs.”
