INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has identified the officers involved in the May 7 fatal shooting death of 19-year-old McHale Rose.
The four officers identified are David Loyal, Pepper Eldridge, Andrew Guzman and Joseph Maxey.
Rose was killed after exchanging gunfire with officers who were responding to a burglary call on the city's north side early on Thursday, May 7. According to Chief Taylor, the call may have been part of a planned police ambush in response to the fatal shooting of Dreajson Reed only hours earlier by another IMPD officer later identified as Dejoure Mercer.
The IMPD officers — Loyal, Eldridge, Guzman, and Maxey — were called to a burglary in progress at a home near 2200 Woodglen Drive around 1:30 a.m. on May 7.
As officers were approaching the apartment, a male suspect immediately began shooting at officers with a rifle, according to IMPD.
All four of the officers returned fire, striking the suspect. Rose was pronounced dead at the scene. None of the officers were injured during the shooting.
