Inmate who escaped from Putnam County prison captured

UPDATE: Indiana State Police said Christopher L. Davis, who escaped from Putnamville Correctional Facility on Friday afternoon, was taken back into custody by an Indiana State Police trooper around 8:15 p.m. Davis was found sleeping in a pickup truck in the area of 7100 S. CR 25E, state police said.

PUTNAM COUNTY — Police are searching for a 34-year-old man who escaped from the Putnamville Correctional Facility Friday afternoon.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, Christopher Lee Davis escaped around 1 p.m.

The sheriff's office says Davis is a violent offender and should be considered dangerous.

Davis is described as being 5 feet 10 inches tall and 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a yellow prison jumpsuit.

Indiana State Police say Davis was serving time for burglary and scheduled for release on March 10, 2021.

If you see him, they say you should NOT approach him and call 911 immediately.
