LAFAYETTE — A man is dead after he was stabbed in the neck in Lafayette Saturday evening.
Lafayette Police Department officers responded to the 500 block of N. 7th Street just after 9 p.m. for a report of a stabbing. Arriving officers found Donald Alkire, 29, suffering from a stab wound to the neck.
Alkire was rushed to Franciscan Health for treatment but he later died from his injuries.
Detectives were able to piece together certain details from the investigation and later arrested Floyd Smith, 32, and Joseph Wilkerson in connection with Alkire's death. Both men are charged with murder at this time.
The details surrounding the stabbing have not been released and remain under investigation.
