ELWOOD, Ind. -- Elwood Animal Care & Control says it's nearly 20 dogs over capacity after multiple malnourished dogs were found in an abandoned home.
Animal control officials made a post to the Elwood Animal Care & Control Facebook page Tuesday night asking for "desperately" needed items, among them dry dog and cat food, cat litter, bleach, towels, chew bones and flea shampoo for animals.
Officials said the latest batch of dogs were found in poor condition in an abandoned house, and that charges will be pressed against the dogs' owner or owners.
Since Tuesday, several dogs have been adopted and a rescue group is coming Thursday to adopt a few more of the dogs.
Despite the adoptions and donations, Elwood Animal Care & Control will still be over capacity by more than 10 dogs.
