INDIANAPOLIS -- Once again partnering up together, Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department will be helping to feed those who need it most.
Last year, the CARE Mobile Food Pantry partnership resulted in more than 62,000 people served -- almost 28,000 of those were children.
IMPD Chief Troy Riggs said children will often turn to petty crime to feed themselves or their family members.
"That isn't something any child should have to worry about," Riggs said. "None of our neighbors should have to go without food."
The distribution centers have been chosen in six of the city's focus areas. IMPD, IFD and EMS will be volunteering to work at the centers.
The program runs from June 6 through August 27.
The pantries are open to the public. There is no ID required. Organizers ask that you bring your own bags or boxes.
