INDIANAPOLIS – One Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officer’s kind gesture resulted in the donation of several child safety seats to the department Tuesday.
In late June, officer Jade Pierson came across a mother who didn’t have her child in a car seat. To make sure the child and his mother got home safely, Pierson gave the mother a seat from her own vehicle.
The photo of Pierson’s gesture went viral and later got the attention of one of the world’s largest child seat producers – Dorel Juvenile.
The company donated 10 safety seats to IMPD’s victim assistance unit.
"It's crazy. I was not anticipating anything coming from that,” said Pierson. “Obviously, it's been a huge thing and I think it's important because we help out so many different families in the community with the seats.”
