INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is teaming up with the city and other local organizations to bring critical cservices and resources to residents living on the far east side Friday.

IMPD, the Department of Business and Neighborhood Services and the Office of Public Health and safety are hosting a resource fair at the Warren Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

At the same time, outreach teams will be canvassing the area near 21st Street and Mitthoeffer talking with residents and offering them information about the resources that are available to them.

By providing some of these critical resources to people living on the city's far east side, IMPD and the city of Indianapolis hope to help enhance the quality of life for those living in the area.

IMPD says they are focusing their efforts on the Northeast District at this time because they have observed a concerning increase in criminal activity and gun violence in the area over the past six months.

City services that will be available at the event include:

  • Raphael Health Center
  • IU Safe Sleep Team
  • Pathways
  • MDwise
  • (WIC) Women, Infants, and Children
  • Indy Heartbeat
  • IMPD Community Engagement
  • C.A.F.E (Community Alliance of the Far Eastside)
  • The Ross Foundation
  • NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness)
  • IMPD East Behavioral Health Unit/MCAT
