LIGONIER — A 13-year-old boy suffered serious injuries to both legs Sunday afternoon while volunteering for a weekly food drive at West Noble Middle School in Ligonier, Indiana.

The teenager was placing donated food into the trunk of a car at the food drive when a Jeep Liberty pulled up to the back of the line and didn’t stop. The vehicle crashed into another vehicle, which pinned the boy between it and a Chevrolet Trailblazer.

The crash is still under investigation. The 84-year-old driver of the Jeep Liberty was not immediately cited, police say.

The boy was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
