INDIANAPOLIS — Defense is what often wins games for Butler, and defense is what the Bulldogs excelled at Saturday at Hinkle Fieldhouse in a 60-42 win over DePaul.
The victory is Butler's 20th, which is typically the magic number needed to secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
The Bulldogs held the Blue Demons to 33% shooting and played a consistent offensive game, with 29 points in the first half and 31 in the second.
Jordan Tucker and Sean McDermott shared the scoring honors for Butler, both with 13 points.
The Dogs are now 20-9 and 8-8 in the Big East, with two regular-season games left, starting with St. John's at Hinkle on Wednesday. Then it's on to the Big East Tournament.
DePaul is now 14-15 and has struggled in conference play, winning just twice in 16 games.
