Daniel Jones shares update on how he feels in injury recovery after Day 6 of Training Camp
WESTFIELD, Ind. (WRTV) — The Colts wrapped up Day 6 of Training Camp on Tuesday, and quarterback Daniel Jones has continued to impress.
After returning from tearing his Achilles in less than eight months, Jones has been sharp during practice.
He shared how he is feeling after practicing in full each day of traning camp.
“Felt good through the whole camp so far and I knew I would,” Jones said. “You try to push yourself in rehab and what you’re doing in preparation for camp, kind of knowing what to expect. So I felt really good and I’ll continue to stay on the recovery part of it to make sure I’m available and out here every day.”
Jones feels good doing everything and there are no plays being held back due to his recovery from his injury, at least to his knowledge.
Jones has also been able to get out of the pocket and scramble in 11-on-11 drills as well.
“Those are all things that I’ve done a lot in a rehab setting, but doing them in practice, in a game situation where you’re reacting, stepping up and scrambling is good. Good to get reps doing that and feel that in a more game-like situation,” Jones said.
Monday was the first day that full pads were put on during training camp. Jones detailed how that changes things for him.
“Obviously we’re not getting hit at quarterback, so the physical aspect of it doesn’t change,” Jones said. “I think you feel the speed and the pocket. Everything is a little bit more real. You feel a little bit sped up and the intensity around you pick up, so that helps in making it feel more game-like.”
The Colts are off on Wednesday and are back on Thursday with a night practice scheduled for 8-10 p.m. at DROPLIGHT Grand Park.
