Westfield ready for historic flag football weekend at Grand Park

WESTFIELD, Ind. — The largest youth flag football tournament in the world is underway at Grand Park.

More than 350 girls and boys teams from across the globe are competing this week in what organizers call the biggest showcase in flag football history — four days of elite competition, fan experiences, and global coverage.

‘A different energy’ in Indiana

Good Morning America’s Rhiannon Ally is in Westfield covering the event. She said having the tournament in Indiana is a major moment.

“It’s so exciting to have something of this scale right here in Indiana,” Ally said. “You’re seeing kids from all over the country and the world competing at such a high level.”

Ally said she’s most looking forward to watching the athletes play.

“Watching these young athletes compete with pure joy,” she said. “There’s just a different energy when kids are playing for the love of the game.”

Divisions, fan experiences

The girls’ divisions include ages 10 through high school, and the boys’ divisions feature teams ages 8 through 14.

Fans will get a chance to take pictures with the Vince Lombardi Trophy and get up close with a set of Super Bowl rings.

Ally said she’s also working with the Colts during her time in Indiana to grow the sport for girls.

“I’m here working with the Colts on their efforts to grow flag football for young girls,” Ally said. “They’re really focused on creating more opportunities and visibility for these athletes.”

Competition at Grand Park is intense, with games running across multiple fields.

Schedule

• Friday and Saturday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Sunday: 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The event is open to fans at Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield.
