News Reporter

Circle City Broadcasting is looking for an experienced General Assignment Reporter who is passionate about telling stories that matter and putting the community first.
We’re seeking a journalist who goes beyond the headlines—someone who listens, builds trust, and brings forward the voices and issues that impact our viewers every day. This role requires strong storytelling, urgency in breaking news, and a commitment to meaningful, community-focused reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead coverage of breaking news with accuracy, urgency, and context
- Develop original, community-driven story ideas that inform and engage
- Delivering compelling live reports from the field and in-studio
- Shoot, write, and edit news packages for broadcast and digital platforms
- Use social media and digital tools to connect with viewers and uncover stories
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community members/sources
- Identify issues that matter locally and turn them into impactful stories
- Handle special assignments as needed
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of newsroom reporting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- A strong on-air presence with the ability to connect authentically during live coverage
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills across platforms
- Curious, compassionate, and driven to serve the community
- Ability to work quickly and effectively in a fast-paced, breaking news environment
Requirements:
- Must provide a link to recent work, including live breaking news coverage, packages, and digital content
- Valid driver’s license required
