TARA HASTINGS

Tara Hastings is a meteorologist and anchor at WRTV with 25 years of experience in news and weather. She joined WISH-TV in December 2018 before moving to WRTV in 2026.

Before coming to Indianapolis, Tara worked at WDTN in Dayton, Ohio; WTOL in Toledo, Ohio; WLUK in Green Bay, Wisconsin; and WLUC in Marquette, Michigan.

Tara was born and raised along Lake Michigan in Hammond, Indiana. She earned a Bachelor of Science in meteorology from Valparaiso University, where she was part of the Valparaiso University Storm Intercept Team. The team spent 10 days during the summer chasing severe storms.

Tara is a member of the American Meteorological Society and holds the AMS Seal of Approval.

In 2024, Tara won a Spectrum Award for Best TV Weather Coverage and has also been nominated for an Emmy Award.

Tara serves on the leadership team for the Indy Metro North Area ACAP (Adults Caring for Aging Parents). She has previously served as an area adviser for NPC and as a national volunteer for Kappa Delta Sorority.

Tara is a caregiver for her father, who has early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. She married in August 2020 and has a teenage stepdaughter, Bette, and two young children, Haley and Jet.

Outside of work, Tara enjoys cooking, singing in church and playing the piano. She is also a member of Kappa Delta Sorority.
