JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. – A powerful but quick storm Tuesday left Johnson County homeowners with damage they’ll need to clean up for weeks ahead.
A home in the 2800 block of Shadwell Place caught fire after it was struck by lightning around noon. Six people were inside the house when it happened, but were able to get out safely after a neighbor alerted them about the fire in the attic.
“I am happy no one got hurt. If he hadn't told me, I think a lot of people could have gotten seriously injured,” said Trey Cockrum. “I think God had hand on this.”
The storm also knocked down a barn near Whiteland Road and a tree fell into a house in the 3200 block of that road.
Though some homeowners continue to clean up damages, firefighters said no one was hurt during the storm.
