Indiana is coming to Hinkle Fieldhouse for the first time in more than 30 years
INDIANAPOLIS — Butler University is set to welcome Indiana University to Hinkle Fieldhouse this fall, marking their first meeting at the venue in more than three decades.
The Bulldogs announced an exhibition game against the Hoosiers set for Sunday, Oct. 11.
The game will kick off a home-and-home series between the two programs, with Butler set to travel to Bloomington before the 2027-28 season begins.
The matchup will also serve as the very first game of Ronald Nored’s head coaching career at Butler. With Indiana now on the schedule, the previously announced exhibition against Indiana State will shift to Sunday, October 18. Tip-off time for the Indiana game will be announced at a later date.
A long history between these two programs
The rivalry between Butler and Indiana goes all the way back to February 1901, when the Bulldogs won a pair of games over the Hoosiers.
Butler last hosted Indiana at Hinkle Fieldhouse on November 27, 1993, winning that contest 75-71.
Since then, the teams have met 12 more times. Eight of those matchups took place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis, with four others played in Bloomington.
The most recent meeting was December 19, 2020, in the Crossroads Classic. Indiana holds a 40-15 advantage in the all-time series.
