PLAINFIELD, Ind. (WRTV) — Plainfield police say a suspect was found shot after a police chase that ended on I-70 in Marion County early Wednesday morning.

The traffic stop began just before 1:30 a.m Wednesday when a Plainfield Police Department officer spotted a speeding vehicle. Police noted the driver reportedly had an active warrant for their arrest, but did not say what for.

The driver did not stop for officers, resulting in a pursuit that ended up on Interstate 70 and continued into Marion County.

At some point, the driver hit the median, damaging the vehicle and deflating its tires. The pursuit ended shortly after.

Officers approached the vehicle and met with the driver, the vehicle’s only occupant, and found them suffering a gunshot wound. They were taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Police did find a firearm in the suspect’s vehicle. It was not clear how the suspect was shot.
