INDIANAPOLIS — Police in Indianapolis have arrested a man they say threw a dog in the dumpster after it froze to death.
Volunteers with Friends of Indianapolis Dogs Outside (FIDO), responded to the 2400 block of 10th Street to check the welfare of a dog that was left outside by its owner.
When they arrived, the volunteers found the dog dead in a dumpster behind the location.
IACS and detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to investigate and found the dog's owner, Gordon Turentine, 62. Turentine admitted to police that the dog, Remy, was his and that he had owned her for 10 years.

Turentine told police that he found Remy frozen the morning of January 30 and then placed her in the dumpster.
Police arrested Turentine on February 1. He's charged with animal cruelty and was also issued citations for improper care and treatment and unlawful disposal of an animal.
He was processed and released on his own recognizance.
According to the original post by IACS, the dog had spent its final days and nights freezing to the ground of its doghouse.
