2017 in review: The top central Indiana sports stories of the year
After nine seasons leading Indiana University's men's basketball team, Tom Crean was fired on March 16, 2017. Crean finished his career at Indiana with a record of 166-135. Under his tenure, IU won two outright Big Ten titles and played in four NCAA Tournaments, but his team never advanced beyond the Sweet 16.
Archie Miller was hired later that month to replace him.

Rob CarrAfter a few years of rumors, Indianapolis finally got its NBA All-Star Game.
On Dec. 13, 2017, the NBA announced that the Indiana Pacers would host the 2021 NBA All-Star Game. The previous April, Larry Bird submitted a bid for the team to host the game, arriving to league offices in a special retro-fitted IndyCar.
Indianapolis has previously hosted the Final Four, the Big Ten Championship, the Super Bowl, and an LGPA Championship.
