INDIANAPOLIS – A woman’s repair bill was cut nearly in half after her apartment building misquoted her for a broken window.
Victoria Galloway, who lives at Fox Hill Manor, said after her son broke a window while fixing the bed, she reported the mistake to her leasing office. Galloway said she was given a pricing sheet and was told her repair would be about $50, but she was later billed $190.
The woman said workers at the apartment office said the higher charge was due to “prices that are subject to change.” Galloway said the pricing sheet she received did not indicate that possibility.
“That pricing was subject to change. There is nothing here that states that, which is why I was irritated with this,” she said.
Officials at Fox Hill Manor’s property management firm, Triangle Associates, said Galloway’s repair request was not on the pricing list because she needed a custom window replacement.
The firm later deducted $100 from her bill, leaving her with $90 to pay.
