MUNCIE, Ind. -- A former Ball State University student accused of assaulting several people at a Goodwill store in Muncie unless they converted to Islam has been deported.

A motion was granted earlier this week to dismiss battery, resisting law enforcement and other charges against Khalid Sulaiman Bilial, 24, because he was sent back to Saudi Arabia.

Last March, Muncie police reported that Bilal was confronting employees at the Goodwill store when they arrived on the scene.

Bilal claimed he was the Prophet Muhammad then hit and strangled one of the female employees and threatened to kill her if she didn’t convert to Islam.

One officer suffered a broken hand when he tried to take Bilal into custody. Another officer used a Taser on Bilal until he was on the ground.

Bilal was taken to the hospital to be treated. He was able to free himself from his handcuffs and hit an officer in the face before the officer was able to get the cuffs back on.

Bilal yelled “Allahu akbar” during each of his attacks, a phrase that Homeland Security officers said has often been used by Islamic radicals before violent attacks.
