INDIANAPOLIS -- A teenager is in critical condition after being shot on the city's west side Friday evening.
Police were called to Port Lillian Drive around 7:30 p.m.
The 16-year-old victim was playing soccer with his younger nephew in a field in the center of the apartment complex, according to police.
They say two men approached the boys from a nearby wooded area and after exchanging some words with the 16-year-old they shot him once in the abdomen.
Police believe a pair of shoes may have something to do with the shooting.
The victim was taken to the hospital where they died but were medically revived according to police. That person is currently in critical condition. Their identity has not been released.
