AUBURN, Ind. (AP) - A second northeastern Indiana high school football player has died from injuries sustained in a traffic accident hours before a game.

DeKalb County Central United School Superintendent Steven Teders said Tuesday that 16-year-old Lucas Oberkiser had died. He didn't say when the death occurred.

The DeKalb Barons defensive tackle was a passenger in a car driven by 17-year-old running back Derek Padilla, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon.

Medics had performed CPR on Oberkiser at the rural crash scene west of Auburn, about 20 miles north of Fort Wayne.

Funeral arraignments haven't been set for Oberkiser. Padilla's funeral is scheduled for Wednesday.

Among those that tweeted support for Oberkiser, Padilla and DeKalb were star guard Russell Westbrook of the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder.
