INDIANAPOLIS – Dozens of volunteers helped make the homes of local senior citizens safer at the seventh annual CICOA Safe-At-Home event Saturday.
The homes of more than 19 seniors were made “fall proof” thanks to teams of volunteers who added several railings to homes.
The teams also did some yard work while they were on site.
"This is amazing. I'm so grateful. I'm so in awe that this is happening to me right now. I really am," said Edna Aldridge, who has been living in her home in the Mapleton Fall Creek neighborhood since the 70s.
Orion Bell, CICOA CEO said the event is great because it helps seniors who want to continue to live in their homes.
“..It lets people stay in their homes, stay in the neighborhoods they love, stay connected to their community, because it allows them to continue to be in their home,” he said.
