Hancock County mom seeks knitting help for foster kids Christmas

Christmas may still be weeks away, but it is already on the mind of Hancock County mom Angie Smith.

As a member of the Hancock County Foster Support Group, she is tasked with helping plan a Christmas party for local foster kids and their families.

While the group gets a lot of support from Cross of Grace Lutheran Church, the Exchange Club of Hancock County, and various businesses, Smith realized she was going to see if community members were willing to help.

Smith posted to Facebook asking if anyone could knit or crochet scarves and hats to give to the kids during the party. The response was overwhelming.

Previous residents of Greenfield who now live in New Mexico, and a man who is brand new to the community are all among those eager to help.

Dozens more chimed in, saying they would love to knit or crochet something.

Smith says because of all the generosity, there will be enough hats and scarves for foster kids at their party, plus children in two other organizations: Safe Families for Children of Hancock County and Love INC.
