INDIANAPOLIS — Before Erica Frazier Stum died in December due to cervical cancer, she wrote a book with her son and inspired people to live life to the fullest.
Frazier-Stum and her son, Wyless, wrote a book, “Living Life with Mommy’s Cancer,” to help other kids cope with their parent’s cancer.
"You make it her mission, to let everyone know that you don't let cancer tell you what to do, that you continue to live your life," JR Stum, Erica’s husband said.
Erica went to the Indiana Statehouse during the legislative session and helped pass legislation to create a plan to reduce the number of people in Indiana who die from the disease.
During the 2018 Indiana legislative session, January was deemed cervical cancer screening and awareness month.
Friends and family of Erica say they would describe her as someone who was “resilient, tenacious, happy and inspirational.”
Before she passed away, she left a message for friends and family.
“I want him to remember that everything is going to be okay,” Erica said. “So even when I'm not here you know it will be different, things will change but ultimately everything is going to be okay."
