INDIANAPOLIS — A woman was found dead in a running vehicle on Indianapolis' north side early Wednesday morning.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the scene in the 7400 block of Merganser Drive just before 4:30 a.m.
When officers arrived they found the woman inside a vehicle that was still running. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity hast not been released.
Police have not said whether they have any suspects at this time. The circumstances surrounding the shooting have not been released.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department PIO Michael Hewitt says Wednesday's death marks the third criminal homicide for Indianapolis in 2019.
The shooting remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. The first two homicides happened over the weekend when police found two people dead inside a home on Sharon Avenue.
So far no arrests have been made in that investigation.
