INDIANAPOLIS – A woman was seen stealing a package from a mailbox in Irvington Monday afternoon.

The homeowner, Molly Zentz, said just before 1 p.m. at her home on Washington Street, her camera caught a woman stealing her mail.

The woman was seen walking up to the home’s mailbox with a fountain drink in her hand, pulling the package from the box, and walking off.

Zentz said she was “unnerved” because she’s had packages stolen before, but not in the middle of the day.

"It's frustrating and it's hard because you want to feel totally safe in your neighborhood and I love Irvington. We're happy to be here, but there is a decent amount of that small, petty crime that happens and it's frustrating for us because we want this community to be better,” said Zentz, who filed a police report.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police suggest shipping items to stores for pickup or requiring a signature if possible.

Officers seek help in identifying the woman in the video.

If you have any information on this case, call Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.
