INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana ranks third in the percentage of high school students who reported sexual dating violence and the Marion County Prosecutor's Office is hoping to change that.
The office will host a prevention seminar for parents from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at Butler University with the hope to give the public a better understanding of the issue.
In situations of sexual dating violence, Sandra Ziebold, the CEO of Beacon of Hope Crisis Center, says parents can make a difference in these situations.
"We absolutely see circumstances where there are escalating steps along the way that lead to outright physical assault, sexual assault as well as unfortunately the ultimate tragic event can be a murder and a death," Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said.
Some warning signs include explosive temper, making false accusations and possessiveness.
