INDIANAPOLIS, -- One person is dead following a late-morning shooting on the Indianapolis near west side.

Police were called to an alley at Concord and Walnut streets just before 11 a.m.

That's near North Tibbs Avenue and West Michigan Street.

A body was found in the alley after neighborhood residents reported hearing up to eight gunshots.

Homicide detectives came to the scene and police fanned out over the neighborhood looking for a possible suspect.

Police set up a crime scene covering an entire block.

The identity of the male victim has not been released.

Monday's shooting death follows a pair of Indianapolis murders Sunday.
