WILLIAMSPORT, Ind. -- A man was arrested by Indiana State Police in connection with an alleged arson and murder in Warren County.

Scottie Kincade, 33, faces preliminary charges of murder and arson as well as fleeing and evading police.

Indiana State Police were called to assist with a fire investigation at a home on Jackson Street after firefighters discovered a body inside. The victim's identity has not been released.

Investigators determined  the fire was an apparent arson and was possibly started to cover up the murder. Troopers along with Williamsport police and the Warren County Sheriff's Department found evidence at the scene that lead them to believe Kincade was connected to the crimes.

Police spotted a vehicle matching the description of the one Kincade was reportedly driving on Tuesday afternoon. They attempted to stop the vehicle on eastbound CR 300 but the suspect sped away crossing SR 63 into Carbondale. The suspect vehicle then crashed into a white Ford pickup before the driver got out and ran away on foot.
