FAIRLAND, Ind. -- Thousands of people gathered at Triton Central High School Tuesday night to remember the lives of four people killed in a plane crash last week.

Lisa Borinstein was killed Friday along with two of her four children, 19-year-old Luke and 15-year-old Emma, when their plane went down in Virginia. A German exchange student, 15-year-old Maren Timmermann, of Berlin, was also killed in the crash.

The family had chartered the plane to fly to Virginia, where Borinstein's oldest son Drew is a senior at Virginia Military Institute. Emma's twin brother Beau remained at home in Shelbyville to attend football and basketball practice.

The Shelbyville community gathered Tuesday to grieve, and to remember the lives of those killed in the crash.

"It's okay to cry. It's OK to laugh. But it's not OK to despair," Bill Borinstein told the assembled crowd.
