INDIANAPOLIS — A building that formerly housed a Marsh Supermarket will be given new life as a third of the infrastructure is leased to the Jane Pauley Community Health Center.
The new Castleton site is scheduled to open Monday, May 13.
The Jane Pauley Community Health Center is a government approved and Federally Qualified Health Care Center that offers services to patients regardless of their ability to pay. According to Jane Pauley Community Health Center CEO, Marc Hackett, sixty percent of the center's patients are covered by Indiana Medicaid, and ten percent are non-insured.
Located at the corner of Shadeland Avenue and 75th Street, the Community Health Center will have 10,000 square feet of the building. An additional 5,000 square feet will be constructed as well, based on the premise for more providers and services needed.
Jane Pauley's space will have six exam rooms, two behavioral health offices, a lab, and an enrollment office. The health center will offer both primary and behavioral health care.
Hackett says this site has been planned for a little over a year.
"We work closely with our hospital partner Community Health Network. Their hospital on Shadeland Avenue (Community Hospital North) says that they have many Medicaid and uninsured patients that are over-utilizing their emergency room and using it as their primary care home," Hackett said.
"They [Community Hospital North] tell me it takes over 90 days to get a new Medicaid covered patient a primary or behavioral health visit," he said. "With our new site, scheduled to open on Monday, May 13th, we will be able to get them an appointment right away!"
Those who do not have insurance can apply for a sliding fee scale, a discount based on their household income. A patient can be seen for as little as $20, according to Hackett.
The appointment book is ready to be filled, and patients are welcome to call and set one up now.
