Alyssa Donovan

Alyssa Donovan is a meteorologist, reporter, and fill-in anchor for WRTV. She joined the team in 2018. Originally from Fox River Grove, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, this is the closest she's lived to her hometown in nearly a decade. Alyssa takes great pride in telling Hoosier stories and has enjoyed getting to know the people of central Indiana. During her time at WRTV, she has worked nearly every shift in the newsroom and is known as our utility player. Her ability to quickly adapt to different roles has allowed her to assist other stations in the Scripps family. While in Indy she has traveled to sister stations across the Midwest to fill in as both a meteorologist and reporter.

Before joining WRTV, Alyssa worked at 41 Action News in Kansas City, Missouri. During her time at the NBC affiliate, she chased storms and severe weather as a field reporter. She also covered a wind range of stories across state lines.
Alyssa also spent several years out west. As a weekend weather anchor and reporter in Spokane, Washington she covered everything from wildfires and windstorms to extreme flooding and record snowfalls. Alyssa says the stories she told in Washington were some of the most challenging and rewarding of her career.

Alyssa started out as a reporter at the ABC and NBC affiliate duopoly in Peoria, Illinois. In her brief time there she covered historic flooding and the devastating November 2013 tornadoes. On the day of the tornadoes, Alyssa was on the scene as people emerged from their destroyed homes.

Alyssa has a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Illinois State University and also completed Mississippi State University’s Broadcast Meteorology program.

In her free time, Alyssa loves outdoor activities like hiking and kayaking. She also loves reading, spending time with her family, and exploring Indiana's many breweries, cocktail bars, and restaurants.
