INDIANAPOLIS — A few weeks ago, Beverly 'Guitar' Watkins suffered a stroke, and this week she died at the age of 80.

RTV6 viewers may remember seeing her on our newscast in February. It was around the time Watkins was celebrating her birthday.

The Blues musician performed with stars such as James Brown, Ray Charles, and Otis Redding.

As a young woman, Watkins toured with R&B pioneer 'Piano Red,' making records that would help influence two young Brits named John Lennon and Paul McCartney to start their own band.
