INDIANAPOLIS — Over the White Castle tradition and ready to do something a little more local this Valentine's Day?

Whether you're looking to celebrate the day of love with your better half, be-it your partner or BFF, maybe even it's a first date kind of night — regardless, there are events around Indianapolis for everyone.

We've put together a list of the 12 best Valentine's events happening around the city.

Things to do on Valentine's Day:

Beer & Ballet

The Ballet Theatre of Indiana and Sun King Brewing Co. are teaming up for the sixth year in a row for "Beer & Ballet" at The Athenaeum.

This year the collaboration of local dance and jazz artists will feature a ballet rendition of 'The Great Gatsby.' Tickets to the show are being sold for any where from $25 to $35.

Bulletproof Soul Band

If you're looking for a funk and soul show — The Mousetrap is the place to be on Friday.

Tickets are anywhere from $5 to $7.

Casablanca Film with Live Orchestra

The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra will be playing a live score to the classic film 'Casablanca' at Hilbert Circle Theatre.

The show starts at 8 p.m., and door open one hour before the performance.

Tickets are anywhere from $35 to $95.

Canvas and Candles

A paint and wine party at the Phiri Art Gallery is inviting both couples and singles.

Tickets to the event are $30.

Issa Vibe R&B Edition

The Sultana Cafe and Hookah Bar right off of Mass Ave will be vibing out to R&B music on Valentine's Day.

Tickets to the 21-and-over event are $10.

Smooth Jazz

If you're looking for a night of smooth and groovin' jazz, The Jazz Kitchen has you covered with performances by saxophonist Kim Waters.

Although the front row table seating is already sold out, lounge and bar seating is still available for $25.

Lets Make a Date at White Rabbit Cabaret

Take your chances at winning love in the The White Rabbit Cabaret's dating gameshow, 'Let's Make A Date.'

Seating is first come first serve with advance tickets available for $10.

Murder Mystery Dinner at Maggiano's

Something dark and something fun while enjoying food — Maggiano's Little Italy is hosting a murder mystery dinner party.

Tickets to the killer fun are $75.

OP Italian Indy

A fancy Valentine's Day dinner that won't break that bank can be found at the OP Italian restaurant in the Downtown Marriott hotel.

A dinner for two menu will be offered for $60.

Rickey Smiley Laugh-a-Thon

Check out stand-up comedian and host of the 'Rickey Smiley Morning Show' for a night of laughs at Old National Centre.

Tickets can be bought for anywhere from $43 to $94.

Tea for Two at Tea's Me Cafe

Need day plans? Get a pot of tea at Tea's Me Cafe.

Patrons can get a pot of tea and a full menu of food for $35. Tickets can be bought ahead of time.

Vonnegut's Valentine's Party

Looking for dance lessons and a movie? The Kurt Vonnegut Museum Library will have an instructor lead a tutorial after the short film 'Long Walk to Forever.'
