INDIANAPOLIS — A 22-year-old man has been arrested after a fatal head-on crash on the city's north side on New Year's Day.
The suspect faces charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing death and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated following the crash in the 2800 block of West 79th Street.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the scene just before 7 a.m. on January 1, where one person was pronounced dead.
IMPD investigators believe the suspect was driving westbound on 79th Street when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck an oncoming sedan nearly head-on. The driver of the sedan was declared deceased at the scene.
West 79th Street was closed in both directions during the investigation.
