INDIANAPOLIS – Bite into one of nine street tacos and take your bar drink to-go at Indy’s newest Mexican restaurant set to open this fall.
In late October, the former 7,500-square foot Tilted Kilt location at the corner of Georgia and Meridian streets will transform into the Broken English Taco Pub, which will boast colorful floor tiles, pinatas, string lights, vibrant murals, Mexican candles and more.
It will also offer a large video wall, game room, stage for live music, an outdoor patio and 40 TVs – made for watching sporting events with friends.
“Broken English is a place where people can cheer on their favorite team, listen to good music, and grab a drink with friends all while enjoying authentic Mexican flavors,” said Jason Felsenthal, director of operations at 8 Hospitality.
The menu will feature festive salads, queso fundido, their famous street tacos, frozen drinks, cocktails, craft beer and several local beverages. Broken English will be one of the only downtown restaurants that features to-go drinks, in which diners can take signature drinks and beers to-go in specific Broken English cups.
On weekends, a brunch menu will be offered highlighting several egg dishes and bar favorites like mimosas.
It will also be the perfect place for night owls. Broken English will stay open until 3 a.m. 7 days a week.
Co-owner Adolfo Garcia said the name Broken English Taco Pub pays homage to the Spanish and English languages used in his daily life.
“I speak English with my friends, and I often find myself mixing in Spanish words because there are some phrases that simply don’t translate to English,” said Garcia. “This happens in many other languages and cultures, but that is what makes the name ‘Broken English’ fun – it is part of our daily slang.”
Broken English looks to fill 50 positions ranging from general manager to servers and chefs.
Those interested should bring a resume and attend the hiring event Oct. 16 and 17 from 1-6 p.m. at the restaurant.
