Adopt a cat or kitten for free through the weekend at Indy Animal Care Services

INDIANAPOLIS -- Good news: Indianapolis Animal Care Services has adopted out 72 cats and sent 47 kittens to foster homes since the start of their free adoption special Thursday.

But the shelter still has 38 cats who need new homes.

There have been almost 700 cats brought in to IACS since June 1, which has caused serious overcrowding.

To try and combat the issue and help some of those cats find their "furever" homes, the shelter is offering free adoptions from Thursday, July 13 until Sunday, July 16.

Each adoption includes a microchip, vaccines, spay/neuter services and FIV/feline leukemia testing.

If you can't make it this weekend, adoptions for cats and kittens will remain $10 through the end of July

Indianapolis Animal Care Services is located at 2600 S Harding Street in Indianapolis.

IACS requests that you arrive at least one hour prior to closing if you would like to adopt.

Hours of operation for Indianapolis Animal Care Services are:

  • Monday: 10am-8pm
  • Tuesday: 10am-6pm
  • Wednesday: CLOSED
  • Thursday: 10am-7pm
  • Friday: 10am-6pm
  • Saturday:10am-6pm
  • Sunday: 10am-6pm
